Who is RUGMARK ?

RUGMARK is an international trademark and active in many European countries, the USA and Canada.

RUGMARK International e.V. as the legal holder of the mark is a neutral body working independently from any national interests.

In the producing countries the RUGMARK Foundation India (1995) and the Nepal RUGMARK Foundation (1996) were established according to their respective laws. They are supported by national NGOs working effectively against use of child labour. As internationally active organization UNICEF is among the executing agencies.

The chairperson of RUGMARK Foundation India is the minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mrs. Maneka Ghandi. The President in Nepal is Mr. Budhendra Jushee.

A RUGMARK Society Pakistan was founded in May 1997. The implementation of RUGMARK criteria and structures was finished in 1998.

In the consumer countries RUGMARK initiatives and campaigns are supported by many important NGOs and social comitted private persons as well as trading companies and governemental bodies.
